In Memory of Dave Johnston and Carol Olson

With profound sadness, we share that on Sunday, June 7, 2026, our chapter lost two treasured members and dear friends, Dave Johnston and Carol Olson.

Dave and Carol shared a passion for the open road and could often be found riding together, creating memories and enjoying the camaraderie that makes our H.O.G. family so special. Their love of riding was matched only by their kindness toward others. Whether it was welcoming a new member, lending a helping hand, or stopping to assist a stranger in need, they embodied the spirit of generosity and compassion that defines our riding community.

Their presence brought warmth, friendship, and genuine care to those around them. The miles ridden, conversations shared, and friendships built with Dave and Carol have left a lasting impact on our Chapter and on the many lives they touched.

The loss of Dave and Carol leaves an emptiness that will be felt by all who knew them. As we grieve this heartbreaking loss, we ask that you keep their families, friends, and fellow Chapter members in your thoughts and prayers. May they find strength in the love and support of those around them and comfort in the countless memories created over the years.

While they may no longer ride beside us, their spirit will forever remain a part of our Chapter, carried in our hearts and remembered on every road we travel.

Ride free, Dave and Carol. You will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

H.O.G. Storytime

The Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.), a community marketing club for Harley-Davidson enthusiasts, was founded in 1983 to foster stronger relationships between Harley-Davidson and its customers, with a focus on community building and feedback.

Here's a more detailed look at the H.O.G.'s story:

  • Founding and Purpose:

The H.O.G. was established in 1983 by one of Harley-Davidson founder's grandsons, aiming to build lasting relationships with customers by creating a strong community and fostering feedback between the company and its riders.

  • Growth and Expansion:

H.O.G. started with a desire to provide Harley riders with an organized way to share their passion and pride. By 1985, there were 49 local chapters in the United States, with a total membership of 60,000.

  • Community Focus:

The H.O.G. emphasizes community building, with local chapters directly linked to Harley-Davidson dealerships. These chapters organize rides, events, and other activities, creating opportunities for riders to connect and share their passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

  • Global Reach:

The H.O.G. has grown into the largest factory-sponsored motorcycle organization in the world, with over 1.2 million members. The first European clubs were created in the 1990s, and the H.O.G. continues to expand its global presence.

  • Benefits of Membership:

H.O.G. membership includes benefits such as a magazine subscription, a touring map book, a pin, a patch, various programs, and more
